Freddie Hayes is an actor, comedian and puppeteer who studied at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Freddie blends puppetry and clown to create strange theatrical worlds. Her universe is unashamedly chaotic, grotesque and glam.
Over the past five years, she has developed a distinctive voice in alternative comedy, earning multiple ★★★★ reviews. A regular on the UK pro comedy circuit, she has over 400 gigs to her name including SOHO Theatre and Moth Club. Freddie is a distinct performer to British Alternative comedy.
Her recent solo show The Magic Lady sold out at Edinburgh Fringe, SOHO Theatre,
and London Clown Festival.
In 2021–2022, she was awarded Arts Council England funding for Potatohead, directed by Sh!t Theatre — a critically acclaimed, sell-out show that toured venues including York Theatre Royal, The Wardrobe Theatre, and Pleasance Courtyard.
Since 2021 Freddie has been part of The Lovely Boys and Friends alongside fellow northern award winning clowns Joe Kent Walters and Mikey Bligh Smith. This alternative comedy night at Hyde Park Book Club in Leeds sell-out alternative comedy night has retained a cult following with special guests, daft sketches and live music.
The Lovely Boys production of Jack and Beanstalk was an adult pantomime about a boy obsessed with beans and his quest for bean romance. This bombastic phenomenon sold-out it’s run in both Leeds and London.
Freddie also recently starred in short comedy film from BAFTA nominees Ada Player & Bron Waugh about a shy loner who is desperate for attention from her football crazy boyfriend.
Freddie is currently producing, writing and staring in a short film. Working title - “Perfect Partner”
